…have too much candy. Although the 2.25 cups of corn syrup and 2 cups of sugar should have tipped me off, Martha’s delicate picture of nougat threw me off.
Especially when the candy isn’t cooked quite as long as it should be. It isn’t ready to share with anyone who isn’t leaning over the pan with a spoon. Now that we have both overdosed on nougat, it has been wrestled into the freezer. Ask for some when you stop by. We have had enough!
I feel your pain. Today I made seven layer bars to rid the baking area of all open packages… was if I needed seven more layers.
This is what we get from being practical. I got the idea from enjoying overpriced commercial nougat. Why not save money and make it myself? Because I will want to eat it!
Please bring me a sample when you come visit next time!
It is quite good out of the freezer. I had to test that too!
Now I am quite hungry for candy, The cupboard is well stocked with all the makings…..
If so…I recommend making half of the recipe in an 8″ x 8″ pan *(you will still have plenty); making a list of people to share it with; and cooking to soft ball so that it sets! 🙂
